P’u-hua or Zhenzhou Puhua was a Chinese Zen master and a monk.
P’u-hua is considered folkloric as various accounts and legends of his life are available. However, there are two main sources – Linji lu or Record of Linji and Kyotaku Denki Kokuji. He is believed to be born in 770 CE. His name Zhenzhou suggests that he was born in Zhengzhou city, the modern day Henan province. He is shown here as ringing his taku (hand-bell). Printed on coated matte paper by inkjet printer, using ultra chrome inks with an off-white paper mounting with golden border, and encased inside a fibre frame with acrylic sheet cover in the front.
Frame not Included.
